El fieltro, un craft con muchas posibilidades / Felt, a craft material

El fieltro es uno de mis materiales favoritos. Es muy divertido crear con él y tiene muchas posibilidades: se puede usar sin coserlo o bien bordarlo o añadirle mil adornos, … Así que no hay límites de edad ni de conocimientos de costura para emplearlo.

 

Felt is one of my favorite materials. It is very enjoyable to create with it and has many possibilities: it is possible to use without sewing it or embroider it or adding thousand  ornaments… So there are no age limits or sewing skill required to use it.

Lo que necesitáis saber para empezar con el fieltro es muy sencillo. Si no queréis coser  se puede usar pegamento. Lo mejor es la cola de contacto o el pegamento especial para tejidos porque si no el fieltro se empapa. Si preferís coserlo, como no es necesario sobrehilarlo, se puede optar por el pespunte o el festón. Y finalmente, para dar volumen a vuestras creaciones lo mejor es la floca, que se vende en mercerías o tiendas de tela. Es mejor que la guata porque es mucho más moldeable y esponjosa. Pero si tenéis guata en casa también os servirá.

 

What you need to know to begin with felt is very simple. If you don’t want to sew the felt it is possible to use glue. The best is the contact adhesive or a special glue for fabrics because in other way the felt soaks. If you prefer sewing it, as it isn’t necessary whipstitching, you can   choose backstitch or festoon. And finally, to give volume to your creations the best is flock, sold in notions stores or fabric shops. It is better than wadding because is much more moldable and spongy. But if you’ve got wadding it will also be good.

En cuanto a los diseños, depende de vuestra imaginación, gusto y habilidades. Hay libros de diferentes autores que explican como realizar sus trabajos. El otro día os mencionaba el último de Jeanette Lim, «Big Little Felt Universe«. También me gusta mucho «Fa la la la felt«, de Amanda Carestio y «Zombie felties«, de Nicola Tedman. Pero a nivel técnico no hay mucho publicado en papel. Además en internet podéis encontrar lo que necesitéis.

 

As for the designs, it depends on your imagination, taste and skills. There are books of different authors which explain how to make their works. The other day I mentioned the last of Jeanette Lim, «Big Little Felt Universe«. I also like very much «Fa la la la felt«, by Amanda Carestio and «Zombie felties«, by Nicola Tedman.

Pero a nivel técnico no hay mucho publicado en papel. Además en internet podéis encontrar lo que necesitéis. A mi me gustan …
