I used this technique to make Easter eggs (here) and I like it because it’s simple –but entertaining- and I love the result.
We need polystyrene balls, fabrics and ribbons.
It’s about covering the balls with fabric, inserting the edges of the fabric pieces in the slits we’ve made previosly on the polystyrene. These are the steps:
1- Draw the lines where the slits will be, creating the design you like, and make the slits with a cutter.
2- Cover the ball with the chosen fabrics, inserting the edges in the slits. You can use the same cutter by the wrong side or a thin blunt knife, not thick to avoid the slit opens.
3- Finally, cover the slits with ribbon, and use silicone to fix them (you can also use any glue for fabric). And I’ve used the ribbon to hang up the balls, securing it with a pin.
