Tutorial: disfraz de gato. / Tutorial: cat costume.

 

Este año mi hija sólo necesitaba un detalle para Carnaval, así que se me ocurrió hacerle un antifaz y unas orejas de gata. Algo rápido pero resultón.

 

This year my daughter only needed a detail for Carnival, so I had the idea of making a cat mask and ears. Something easy but nice.

 

Necesitamos fieltro, guata, entretela, cinta de goma, una diadema e hilo de bordar.

 

We need some felt, wadding, interlining, rubber band, a hairband and embroidery thread.

1– Primero imprimimos las plantillas (podéis descargarlas aquí) y las dibujamos en el fieltro: dos antifaces, dos triángulos pequeños y cuatro triángulos grandes.

 

1- First print the templates (you can download them here) and draw them on the felt: two masks, two small triangles and four big triangles.

2– Para hacer las orejas comenzamos cosiendo cada triángulo pequeño a uno grande. Yo lo he hecho a punto de festón. También podéis pegarlas. Después cortamos en la guata dos triángulos grandes y cosemos todas las capas, como veis en la foto. Dejad dos aberturas en los vértices de la base de las orejas para introducir la diadema.

 

2- To make the ears start by sewing every small triangle on a big one. I did it using blanket stitch. You also may stick them. Next cut two big triangles of wadding and sew all the layers, as you see in the photo. Leave two openings at the coners of the ears base to introduce the hairband.

3– A continuación colocamos la diadema y damos unas puntadas para que las orejas queden bien cogidas.

 

3- Then place the hairband and sew a few stitches so the ears are well attached.

4– Para el antifaz comenzamos decorándolo. Yo he bordado los bigotes y unas pestañas y he cosido unas lentejuelas, pero podéis hacer lo que querías, por ejemplo, adornarlo con rotuladores de tela y purpurina. Después cortamos una pieza de entretela con la forma del antifaz y cosemos todas las capas colocando en medio la cinta de goma que habremos cortado a la medida de la cabeza.

4- For the mask start decorating it. I embroidered the moustache and the eyelashes and sewed some sequins, but you can do what you prefer, for example, use fabric markers and glitter dust. Then cut a mask shaped piece of interlining and sew all the layers placing between the rubber band we previously will have cut the size of the head.
