Tutorial: funda de tela para libro / Tutorial: fabric cover book

 

Tengo un tarjetero bastante feo pero que uso mucho, así que he decidido forrarlo con una tela bonita. Me encanta el resultado, voy a repetir con agendas y con todo lo que se me ocurra; además no me ha costado nada hacer la funda.

 

I have a very ugly card holder I use a lot, so I have decided to line it with a nice fabric. I love the result, so I will do it with agendas and whatever I can come up with; besides it has not been difficult at all. 

1– Lo primero es medir lo que queremos forrar: largo, contorno y solapa (la parte de tela que meteremos por dentro). Y cortamos un rectángulo de tela que mida por un lado igual que el largo más un centímetro y de ancho igual que el contorno más las solapas (contar dos).

 

1- The first thing is to measure what we want to line: length, edge and flap (the part of fabric we will fold inward). Cut a rectangle of fabric measuring one side, the size of the lenght plus 0,40’’, and the other side the size of the edge plus the flaps (count two flaps).

2– A continuación planchamos el dobladillo de todo el contorno: en los lados largos doblamos la tela dos veces para que quede escondido el borde de la tela y en los lados cortos sólo una vez porque al doblar las solapas quedarán ocultos. Las esquinas se doblan como en la foto. Ya podemos coser el dobladillo de los lados cortos.

 

2- Next iron the hem of the whole edge: fold the fabric twice on the long sides so that the edge of the fabric remains hidden and once on the short sides because when folding the flaps it will remain hidden. Fold the corners as in the photo. You can then sew the hem of the short sides.

3– Y para terminar, doblamos las solapas, planchamos y cosemos los dobladillos de los lados largos.
